About Sculpi Climbing

Welcome to Sculpi Climbing. This is the story of how a passion for climbing, a spark of inspiration in the Swedish woods, and a love for functional design turned into a dedicated craft.

The Spark: From Tiny Homes to Climbing Holds

The story of Sculpi began during an internship in Sweden at a workshop called Tiny Houses of Sweden. Having always had a massive passion for climbing, it didn't take long for me to bring that energy into the workshop. Soon, I had built a small training board for campus and hangboard sessions, which my boss kindly let me mount right inside the workshop.

Many lunch breaks were spent talking about climbing and hold design. My boss became an incredible mentor and sparring partner—he was just as stoked on the project as I was, and together we started developing the very first wooden holds. Using my evenings to shape and experiment, the foundation for Sculpi Climbing was laid.

Testing the Limits

When the first set of holds was ready, I brought them to the local climbing club. Seeing climbers route-set boulders with them and getting their direct, positive feedback was a turning point.

From the very beginning, I was obsessed with experimenting with shapes and textures. I wanted to create wooden holds that could compete with the massive, modern macros dominating today's climbing gyms, but with a unique twist.

What drives the design of Sculpi?

• The Feel: Creating wooden holds that feel amazing to touch, providing great friction while saving your skin.

• The Aesthetic: Standing out visually on the wall with a modern, contemporary look.

• The Nature: Creating a direct, tactile parallel to outdoor climbing—a natural grip.

Bringing the Craft Back Home

When my time in Sweden ended, I didn't return to Denmark empty-handed. The workshop sent me off with a parting gift—tools and materials that allowed me to keep the momentum going at home.

My design process is, and always will be, driven by endless experimentation. I constantly push the boundaries of what a wooden hold can be. I want to honor the organic shapes found in nature, but adapt them to fit seamlessly onto modern climbing walls without compromising on quality or performance.

Sculpi Today: Crafted in Aarhus

The Danish climbing community has been incredibly supportive of this journey, for which I am immensely grateful.

Today, Sculpi Climbing holds are crafted at Kjeldtoft Møbelsnedkeri (a premium cabinetmaker workshop) right here in Aarhus. The setting may have changed, but the creative process remains exactly the same: curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep love for climbing.
